Summary

The aim of research was to evaluate the fertility and ability to conceive in the group of 23 patients with post-traumatic spinal cord injury. To achive ejaculation 21 patients underwnet stimulation by vibrator. In two cases of male patients with lower motor neuron damage, elecrtoejaculation with electrostimulator ELJAC 2 was used. In 20 patients positive result was obtained by vibrator stimulation. In three cases the retro-ejaculation occurred. Two patients with L1 and L2 paraplegia were treated successfully with electrostimulation. In three cases the insemination was achived by microinjection of sperm into oocitic cytoplasm. The pregnencis resulted in three healthly infants. The use of vibrator and electroejaculation enables collection of semen in most of the patients with spinal cord injury. Utilisation of modern insemination methods provides most couples with the chance to produce offspring even in cases of poor semen quality.
