Summary

48 patients after radial bone fracture were evaluated. Posttraumatic treatment was differentiated and consisted of conservative procedures with various methods of bone anastomosis. Therapy was programmed individually for each patient, initiated during immobilization and then continued on a large scale during the period of proper reeducation. The function of each joint was evaluated on the basis of routine measurements using the method proposed by Swanson. Grip strength was measured using Jamar Dynamometer. Examinations were carried out twice: at the beginning and at the end of the therapy. The analysis of the results proved the high efficacy of the applied therapy and showed that radius fractures cause function impairment of elbow, wrist and finger joints. The level of this impairment is similar in patients treated either conservatively or surgically. It was also indicated, that applying surgical treatment had a positive influence on strength restitution.
