Summary

In the paper a critical review of currently used methods in back pain treatment is presented, emphasizing chronic back pain problems. The relationship between pathophysiology and patobiomechanics of back pain and a selection of treatment methods is shown. Criticized are therapeutic procedures, which are widely used but are not proved as efficient methods in reliable clinical investigations. The psychological aspects of chronic back pain and the usefulness of psychotherapeutic methods are discussed. The prevention methods of back pain are described. Enclosed is an extended bibliography.
